The Best Utah Sandwich

June 1st, 2008 by admin

The Shadow Fighter, one of the most popular sandwiches at Little Acorn, could quite possibly be the best Utah Sandwich.

It has been a favorite since the beginning. The combination of beef and bun with all the fixin’s make it perhaps the most delicious sandwich you can find anywhere. The fries are perfect. The home made bread that cuddles the sandwich interior is tosted to perfection and is a tasty treat all by itself.

You’ve got to try the Shadow Fighter and see if you don’t agree that it is perhaps the best sandwich in Utah.

The Sigh is Calling: Little Acorn falls far from fast-food tree

There’s not much that’s little about Little Acorn, a new sandwich and burger joint in Pleasant Grove.

The burgers are large, so are the fries, and there’s even a large and beautiful fish tank to occupy you (or your kids) while you wait for your food. The dining area is also spacious, and the booths are comfortable.

But the best part is that Little Acorn is a cut above fast food at fast food prices. Combo meals are in the $5-to-$6 range but the sandwiches are easily more impressive. The one you want is called the Shadow Fighter (don’t ask us why) and comes with a beef patty, cheese, ham, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and a special sauce. It’s served on thick, toasted bread instead of a bun, and boy is it a mean sandwich.

Our other favorite menu item was the chicken strips, which were surprisingly good. The batter is thin and tasty, and the chicken is juicy, so much better than those thick, crispy lumps you’ll find at chain restaurants. They were served with a smooth and creamy ranch sauce for dipping, and the combination was perfect.

We also tried the Turkey Avocado Swiss sandwich, which was good, and the Deluxe Pastrami Cheese Burger. We would have liked an extra slice of turkey and pastrami, respectively, but the sandwich bread here is homemade and made up for that.

You can even buy a fresh loaf of white or wheat bread for $2.75.

Our combo meals came with plenty of fries, which were good enough to finish off, and a standard selection of fountain drinks. For dessert, there’s ice cream (vanilla, chocolate or twist) or a wide variety of shakes. The shakes are a very manageable size (like, you could actually finish one yourself) and start at only $2.25. They’re made with vanilla ice cream and your choice of mix-ins — we liked cherry best.

Kids Meals at Little Acorn are only $2.99 and offer a selection of kid classics and include fries, a drink and M&M candies. If they’re not that hungry, you can get a single corn dog for a buck and change. We can’t think of why you’d go to a fast food place when you can get better food and stay within your budget at Little Acorn.

also I want to add one to my list. at the mouth of spanish fork canyon there is a restaraunt called little acorn on the same lot as a gas station, it’s got a bacon cheese burger, and try the shadow fighter.

The Shadow fighter is awsome! We were working down the street for like 2 weeks and ate there everyday. Mmmmm good Burger.

I also like the Belgian Waffle by Hillcrest High. Don’t eat there often but it has been good the 3 or 4 times I have gone.

CHEFMOZ Dining Guide Includes Little Acorn

May 23rd, 2008 by admin

The ever popular ChefMoz Dining gude has included Little Acorn in its list of restuarants in Utah.

A recent comment by a reader:

Fresh Sandwiches Custom Built
Little Acorn was recently established in Pleasant Grove in the former Lee’s restaurant building.

While it’s disappointing to not have the Chinese food any longer, because it was really good, the fresh sandwiches at Little Acorn are a different kind of treat.

My favorite sandwich is the Teriyaki Chicken Mushroom sandwich, but they are all good. The best part is that they come on a slice of thick bread that was fresh baked that day and toasted.

You can get shakes, burgers, and fries as well.
